Actuarial Analyst
Actuarial Analyst - Salary of Circa £35,000
Location - York
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Actuarial Team as an Actuarial Analyst on a permanent basis.
You will spend time answering technical policy queries from a wide variety of customers both internally and externally and may be involved in supporting projects that impact our existing business policyholders.
There will also be opportunities to help ensure With-Profit bonus rates such as final bonus rates, surrender / transfer value factors and estimated maturity values factors are calculated and implemented correctly. You will also help to improve these processes; making them quicker, simpler to run, and give better customer outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities
You will need to ensure you perform calculations correctly, potentially determining which method to use, considering whether the answers are appropriate, and detailing any decisions made to form strong governance and controls.
Calculations can be complex and will be important for individual customers and shareholders as they will rely on them to be accurate.
Where processes are being developed, you can help to shape the new methodology.
You will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate calculations for both the Bonus process, and the wider team activities. You will also maintain and update the team’s spreadsheets.
To be effective you will need to learn fast and become familiar with several bonus process and query methods. Eventually you will be able to check other colleagues’ work. You will be responsible for providing audit trails for your work.
Skills & Experience required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Minimum of A level Maths
A broad technical knowledge and understanding of actuarial principles, formulae, and methodology. A high degree of computer literacy and strong excel skills
Understand risks and how to mitigate them.
Good communication skills, verbal and written – ability to communicate complex issues simply
