A bit about the job

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Compliance Manager to join our Compliance function on a 6-month contract basis.

Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of an effective, risk-based second-line compliance framework across our Lloyd’s and general insurance business, including its international service company network.

This is a senior generalist compliance role, requiring strong regulatory knowledge, sound judgement and the ability to provide practical, risk-based advice and challenge to senior stakeholders. You’ll bring particular expertise in financial crime, including sanctions, due diligence and risk assessment, alongside a broad understanding of the Lloyd’s, PRA and FCA regulatory landscape.

You’ll support key regulatory priorities, contribute to integration and transformation activity, and help shape the future operating model for the Compliance function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced compliance professional who can hit the ground running, build strong stakeholder relationships and make an immediate impact.

Skills and experience we’re looking for
  • Senior-level compliance experience within a Lloyd’s managing agent or general insurance environment.

  • Strong generalist compliance knowledge, with experience across regulatory requirements, governance, Consumer Duty, complaints, regulatory change, breaches and notifications, and SMCR.

  • A good understanding of Lloyd’s, PRA and FCA regulatory requirements, including LIC requirements and service company oversight arrangements.

  • Strong financial crime expertise, including sanctions, due diligence and financial crime risk assessments within an insurance or Lloyd’s market context.

  • Experience working in a second-line compliance advisory, oversight or assurance function, providing effective challenge, escalation and regulatory guidance.

  • Experience overseeing service companies or delegated arrangements, including assessing compliance frameworks, monitoring regulatory responsibilities and reviewing control effectiveness.

  • The ability to build credibility quickly, influence senior stakeholders and deliver effectively in a contract or interim role.

  • Experience preparing clear, high-quality reports, management information and papers for senior management and governance forums.

  • The ability to support and guide colleagues, sharing knowledge and providing practical advice across the Compliance team.

Day-to-day responsibilities
  • Support regulatory engagement with Lloyd’s, the PRA, the FCA and other relevant regulators, ensuring regulatory requirements are effectively managed and embedded.

  • Provide second-line compliance advice, oversight and challenge across the generalist compliance agenda, including conduct, Consumer Duty, complaints, regulatory change, breaches and notifications, SMCR, policies and training.

  • Oversee service company arrangements, regulatory obligations and delegated responsibilities, assessing the effectiveness of local compliance controls.

  • Coordinate regulatory reviews and submissions, identifying and managing regulatory risks across the managing agent and its service companies.

  • Support the financial crime and sanctions frameworks, including due diligence, risk assessments and sanctions screening oversight.

  • Contribute to integration activity and project work, including the development of the Compliance team’s target operating model (TOM).

  • Support the review and alignment of compliance policies and procedures, ensuring agreed compliance plan activities are delivered.

  • Prepare high-quality reporting and management information for senior stakeholders and governance forums.

  • Provide guidance and support to members of the Compliance team, sharing knowledge and promoting consistent ways of working.

  • Ensure a structured handover of ongoing activities and deliverables at the end of the contract.

Desirable experience
  • Experience supporting integration programmes, business change or transformation projects within a Lloyd’s or general insurance environment.

  • Experience designing or implementing a compliance target operating model (TOM), including service company oversight arrangements and RACI frameworks.

  • Experience supporting the development of complaints handling processes, TOBAs and branch office oversight arrangements.

  • Experience working across international service company networks and multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments.
