A bit about the job

Data is the lifeblood of any modern organisation, and Aviva is no different. Our Data Engineering team sits within Aviva’s Quantum Data Science Practice, supporting areas such as Machine Learning, Analytics, AI, Claims, Pricing, Financial Crime, Fraud, and Underwriting. You’ll design, build, and maintain data architectures and pipelines that enable these teams to deliver exceptional products and services to our customers. Your work will ensure data is accurate, accessible, and ready for advanced analytics.

Skills and experience we’re looking for

  • Hands-on experience with SQL and AWS Cloud platforms is essential. Familiarity with DBT and working knowledge of DataOps and CI/CD are desirable. Experience with Snowflake would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable code in SQL or Python (knowledge of Scala or Java is a bonus).
  • Strong understanding of data pipeline engineering and best practices for CI/CD setup.
  • Stakeholder management skills – able to communicate effectively and build strong relationships across technical and business teams.
  • Experience in data quality assessment (profiling, anomaly detection) and documentation (schemas, dictionaries).

  • Starting salary circa £30,000 – £35,000for National and London £38,000 - £43,000 based (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
