A bit about the job:

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Warehouse Engineer to support our Lloyd’s syndicate operations. This role is critical in delivering a robust, high‑quality data platform that underpins underwriting, claims, actuarial, exposure management, and regulatory reporting across the syndicate.

The SQL Data Warehouse (DW) Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data warehouse solutions that support London Market insurance operations. The role focuses on optimising data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and enabling advanced analytics across underwriting, claims, pricing, actuarial, and regulatory reporting functions.

The ideal candidate will have strong SQL, ETL, and data modelling experience within the London Market environment, with an understanding of key insurance datasets (e.g., bordereaux, premiums, claims, policy admin, exposure, Lloyd’s returns).

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Data Engineering & Development
Designs and optimises SQL-based data warehouses while building reliable ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like SSIS, ADF, and Databricks. Implements dimensional modelling such as star schemas to support analytical workloads.
  • London Market Data Expertise
Works with complex London Market datasets including bordereaux, regulatory submissions (CMR, QMA/QMB, PMDR, LPM), and integrations across underwriting, claims, finance, and external market sources.
  • Data Quality & Governance
Builds automated data quality, lineage, and reconciliation frameworks to ensure trusted, controlled data flows. Applies best‑practice cleansing and exception‑handling processes while supporting wider governance initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
Partners with Product Owners, Underwriters, Actuaries, BI teams, and IT to translate business needs into technical specifications. Provides guidance on data definitions, lineage, and appropriate data usage.
  • Cloud & Modernisation
Migrates legacy SQL platforms into Azure using Synapse, Data Lake, and Delta technologies while enabling self‑service analytics for Power BI and actuarial teams. Leverages cloud-native tools to modernise data pipelines and architectures.
