Data Protection Risk Manager

We are currently looking for a Data Protection Risk Manager to join our team on a 6-month fixed term contract. Focusing on the General Insurance business, the successful individual will report into the Data Protection Officer and liaise with regulators and key stakeholders as required and monitor compliance with the GDPR and other data protection legislation.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a level of understanding of the GDPR, other data protection law and how data privacy applies to processing activity within Aviva.
  • Monitor and advise on the management of data subject rights to ensure these are appropriately serviced and are met within the regulatory timeframes.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to ensure the Data Protection agenda is given consideration and that accountability for Data Protection is embedded in the business.
  • Deliver training programs to improve the knowledge of Data Protection in the business.
  • Support the DPO with oversight of data privacy complaints and breaches to ensure these are effectively managed including identifying systemic issues.
  • Assist business functions in investigating breaches of the Data Protection Acts and industry specific Codes of Practice ensuring they are reported to internal and external parties, as appropriate.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory data protection change and advise the business.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a Data Protection role is essential for this role.
  • Third level degree in Data Protection or professional qualification is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of all the requirements of relevant Data Protection regulation and legislation and Industry codes of practice is not essential but would be an advantage.
  • Team player with a strong focus on communication and service delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to develop partnerships and relationships throughout the organisation; experience interfacing with the business to provide guidance with respect to privacy matters while accomplishing business objectives.
  • Must be a dedicated, self-motivated individual with an ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • High degree of professionalism, sound judgment and discretion.
