This is a great job for someone who enjoys getting beneath the surface of how things work, evaluating evidence and helping a business make meaningful and sustainable improvements.

You'll play a key role in delivering assurance reviews across governance, risk and control frameworks, turning analysis into clear insight, balanced conclusions and practical recommendations. Working as part of the Enterprise Assurance team, you'll partner with stakeholders across the business while providing the independent challenge and professional judgement needed to strengthen customer, risk and regulatory outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver assurance reviews from initial scoping and evidence gathering through to reporting, action tracking and follow-up activity.
  • Assess governance arrangements, controls, risk management practices and management actions to determine whether they are appropriately designed and operating effectively.
  • Analyse evidence to identify control weaknesses, emerging risks, trends, root causes and opportunities for continuous improvement across the business.
  • Produce clear, evidence-based findings and recommendations, maintaining robust audit trails and translating complex information into meaningful insight and practical actions.
  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, providing constructive challenge while supporting sustainable improvements and contributing to assurance planning, methodologies and best practice across the team.

Skills & Experiences

  • Experience within assurance, internal audit, risk, controls, compliance, governance or a related oversight function, ideally within financial services or another regulated environment.
  • Strong experience planning and delivering reviews, assessments or investigations, evaluating evidence and reaching balanced, evidence-based conclusions.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to identify key themes, assess control effectiveness and distinguish isolated issues from wider business risks.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide constructive challenge and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of life and pensions operations, regulatory frameworks or the Three Lines of Defence model would be advantageous, alongside relevant professional qualifications in audit, assurance, risk, compliance or governance.
