External Communication & PR Manager
Aviva is seeking a highly experienced senior-level External Communications and PR Manager to lead our external communications and media relations strategy. This is a pivotal role for a seasoned professional with a proven track record in corporate communications, public policy, and media engagement.
They will have a central role in developing and executing external communications strategies, plans, and campaign activities.
The successful individual will be responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive external communications and advocacy programs to ensure a positive, uniform, and consistent representation of Aviva across its business, public policy, and CR goals to all key stakeholders including media, customers, brokers, consumers, regulator, government and state bodies, and representative bodies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as a lead spokesperson for Aviva Ireland, managing media relations and ensuring consistent, positive representation across all channels.
- Develop and execute strategic external communications and advocacy plans aligned with business, public policy, and corporate responsibility goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, including the Head of Communications, Sponsorship & Sustainability (HOCSS), to shape messaging, campaigns, and content.
- Align with Aviva Group’s communications and public policy teams to ensure consistency and leverage group-wide expertise.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key journalists and media outlets. Handle media enquiries so as to ensure the company’s position is clearly understood.
Skills & Experiences:
- Extensive senior-level experience in communications or PR, preferably in insurance or financial services sector.
- Demonstrated ability to lead high-impact communications strategies and act as a trusted media spokesperson.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills with relevant presentational & facilitation abilities.
- A proactive, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
