External Communications Manager
**9 Month Secondment / Fixed Term Contract
Role overview:
The External Communications Manager will lead all external communications for a post-acquisition project involving the full rebrand and registered name change of a Global Corporate & Specialty (GCS) business operating across the UK, EU, Australia, North and Latin America. This role ensures that brokers, clients, regulators, market bodies, partners, and media receive clear, accurate, and timely information that supports a seamless transition to the new brand and mitigates reputational and operational risk. Additionally, the role will support on ensuring all rebrand messaging is consistent across the rebrand touchpoints including documentation, literature and websites.
Responsibilities include:
Strategic Comms Leadership: Develop and deliver the external comms strategy for the registered name change and rebrand, shape the narrative, define ways of working and approvals processes, and ensure reputation‑enhancing, consistent messaging.
Content Creation & Delivery: Coordinate, produce and secure sign‑off for high‑quality content (e.g., customer/broker letters, FAQs, regulatory notices, press releases, website and social updates) ensuring clarity around brand and legal entity changes.
Stakeholder, Broker & Partner Engagement: Map stakeholders, define target audiences, identify channels, manage contact data reviews, track effectiveness, gather feedback, and equip client‑facing teams with materials and talking points.
Regulatory, Market & Media Comms: Partner with Legal, Regulatory, Marketing, Media, Internal Comms and Lloyd’s teams, as well as colleagues from the GCS and Probitas divisions in London and globally, to meet compliance requirements, prepare structured regulatory comms, support media engagement, and monitor external sentiment and coverage.
Governance, QA & Programme Support: Oversee approvals, version control, audit trails, documentation QA, ensure consistent rebranding across materials, and report progress and key metrics in alignment with project milestones.
Skills & Experience:
Strong communications and writing skills, ability to manage stakeholder relationships, and attention to detail.
Proven experience creating, managing, and delivering plans within project or change environments.
Knowledge of the Aviva brand and tone of voice is essential, and experience in rebrand or regulatory name‑change activity is desirable.
Experience working with brokers, including broker marketing, and understanding of the Lloyd’s market is a plus.
Broad background that blends strategic communication with practical execution across brand, projects, and market-specific activity.
