First Line Governance & Assurance Business Partner (Risk and Controls) 

This is a great job for an experienced operational risk and controls professional who thrives on business partnering and is looking to take on an influential role within Aviva at a pivotal time of growth.

A bit about the job:

The First Line Governance & Assurance (G&A) Business Partner team operates as part of Aviva’s UK General Insurance Personal Lines business. The role focuses on strengthening the operational risk and control environment, supporting effective governance, and enabling well managed change that delivers good customer outcomes.  

You will work with colleagues across Personal Lines to ensure compliance with the Operational Risk and Control Management Framework and other material frameworks and policies across all risk stripes. This includes facilitating risk/issue/control/event management, supporting risk assessments, delivering root-cause analysis and thematic reviews, and supporting internal governance forums. You’ll collaborate with specialist teams as well as the businesses, providing clear risk and control insight, and offer constructive challenge and solutions to help prevent failures, reduce losses, and mitigate regulatory and reputational risks.  

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Strong understanding of risk principles and value of effective risk and control management and frameworks and recognises the importance of good conduct and governance.   
  • Experience working with risk and control activities within a regulated environment, ideally with exposure to the insurance industry.   
  • Experience of supporting the implementation and application of effective risk and control management through periods of significant organisational changes and realignments
  • Knowledge of Consumer Duty requirements and application of these principles in day-to-day activity, ensuring customer outcomes, product value, and fair treatment are consistently considered across General Insurance processes and decisions.  
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills across multiple teams, specialisms and levels of seniority.
