Location: Norwich based (50% hybrid working)

Salary: circa £50,000

This opportunity is perfect for someone who would like to play a meaningful role in both delivery and change. Leading a small team, you’ll be accountable for the delivery of BAU month‑end activities, supporting the team to perform consistently and to high standards, while also driving efficiency, continuous improvement and transformation across the end‑to‑end close.

A bit about the job:

You’ll join the UK&I General Insurance General Ledger Accounting Control & Operations team, responsible for delivering the month‑end close and maintaining strong financial controls. In this role, you’ll lead the UKGI GL Accounting team (working closely with another UKGI team leader), ensuring accurate and timely general ledger close, analytics, and reporting. Alongside BAU, you will have the opportunity to drive efficiency, continuous improvement and transformation across the end-to-end close. You’ll work closely with teams across Finance, including Financial Reporting, Reinsurance, and Actuarial. You’ll also support internal and external audits and play a key role in governance and risk management. You’ll be supported with development opportunities to build your leadership and technical capability in the role.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Experience leading, coaching, or supporting others, or a strong aspiration to step into a people‑leader role with the ability to motivate and challenge individuals.
• Ability to plan, manage, and prioritise team workload while taking ownership of outcomes and decisions.
• Qualified accountant or equivalent financial experience (IFRS 17 knowledge advantageous), with experience operating effective financial control and governance.
• Proven experiencing improving processes, improving controls and driving efficiencies.
• Curious, analytical mindset with strong stakeholder relationship management and communication skills.
