Aviva International Insurance (AII) is seeking a Senior Governance & Operations Manager to join our Governance & Operations team.
AII is Aviva's captive reinsurer, writing both Life and General Insurance business and playing a critical role in delivering financial value, capital efficiency and strategic growth across the Group. As a regulated legal entity with its own Board and governance frameworks, this is an opportunity to work directly with senior executives and key stakeholders across Aviva while helping to shape the future operating model of a unique and highly influential business.
The Governance & Operations (G&O) team is critical to AII’s success, ensuring that the business remains well governed, operationally resilient, regulatorily compliant and strategically focused, allowing AII to optimise capital, generate liquidity and support Aviva’s growth ambitions
A bit about the job
This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role where you'll combine strategic thinking, operational excellence and strong stakeholder influence to help shape the future of Aviva International Insurance (AII).
This is a wide-ranging role, where you'll need to be a trusted adviser to senior leaders, you'll build strong relationships across the Aviva business including; Markets, Finance, Risk, Legal and Corporate Governance, bringing people together to deliver successful outcomes.
You'll lead the ongoing development of governance, risk and control frameworks, ensuring they remain effective, proportionate and aligned to business needs, while providing clear and insightful reporting to senior leadership, committees and the Board. Working across the organisation, you'll champion a strong risk and control culture, drive operational performance through meaningful management information and business insights, and identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve efficiency and enhance oversight. You'll also play a key role in leading strategic initiatives and continuous improvement programmes, helping to shape future governance, reporting and operational frameworks while bringing fresh ideas, constructive challenge and innovative thinking to the way we work.
Skills and experience we're looking for
We're interested in talented individuals who combine strong technical capability with commercial thinking and the ability to influence others.
- Experience in risk & controls management within a regulated environment.
- A proven ability to work with and influence senior stakeholders and build trusted relationships across the business.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in Board Governance, delivering change and/or operational improvements.
- Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills with ability to translate complex issues into clear reports and actionable recommendations.
- Knowledge of reinsurance structures and/or Solvency II/Solvency UK frameworks would be advantageous but is not essential.

- Salary circa £75,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity: 12% of annual salary Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
