Governance Risk & Control Specialist
We’re looking for a collaborative and confident Governance, Risk & Control Specialist to help embed a strong control culture across our first line functions. You’ll work closely with managers to make sure they have the tools, training and support they need to manage their risks and controls effectively. You won’t own the risks or controls yourself that stays with the business but you’ll be their go-to expert for guidance, assurance and insight.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the business with Operational Risk and Control Management (ORCM), including training, workshops and system queries.
- Provide quality assurance on control design and effectiveness, and on inherent and residual risk assessments.
- Help the business prepare for and respond to second- and third-line reviews, including issue closure and root cause analysis.
- Identify and escalate risk culture concerns early, helping to create a transparent, accountable and supportive environment.
- Work with the Governance, Risk and Control Manager on reporting, oversight of risk events, and sharing insights across teams and with Group.
Skills & Experiences
- A strong communicator with excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- Able to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and influence with confidence.
- Comfortable working independently, taking ownership and making decisions.
- Experience in a risk and control environment, ideally within financial services or professional practice.
- Organised, adaptable and proactive — you thrive in a fast-moving environment and enjoy solving problems.
