Head of Cloud Modernisation & Enablement

Location: Norwich, Bristol, York, Perth or Glasgow

Salary: Circa £125k

A bit about the job

You’ll lead how we modernise our cloud platforms at Aviva, working alongside the Hosting and Service Platforms Director to shape our cloud strategy and deliver scalable, cloud-native architecture solutions. You’ll help our developers build faster, safer and simpler services for our customers by creating a great developer experience through the right tools, training and standards.

You’ll be accountable for defining and delivering the end to end cloud modernisation roadmap, leading the design, build and operation of our platforms, and ensuring strong operational performance. You’ll also lead a high-performing team, manage suppliers and partners to deliver high-quality services, and oversee risk and controls across your area.

Alongside this, you’ll play a key role in supporting strategic technology programmes, contributing to Aviva’s wider transformation.

Skills and experience we’re looking for

  • Experience designing, building, and running cloud-native platforms (AWS, including Kubernetes such as EKS or AKS)
  • Proven leadership experience in cloud or platform engineering teams
  • In depth understanding of cloud strategy, architecture and delivery at enterprise level
  • Experience managing suppliers and working with complex senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of regulated environments and risk and control frameworks (financial services experience is a plus)

  • Starting salary circa £125,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
