We are looking for an exceptional data engineering leader to join our team as we continue to modernise how data supports our Commercial Lines business. As Head of Data Engineering, you will lead a talented engineering community and shape the continued evolution of our data capabilities. Working as a key member of the Data and Analytics Leadership Team, you will bring together people, technology and strategy to build the foundations on which Commercial Lines can grow and innovate. You will work across the business to influence our direction and ensure data is at the heart of how we deliver for our customers.

This is a pivotal leadership role, combining strategic ambition with the opportunity to make a tangible difference. You will build a high-performing engineering organisation, create the conditions for analytics, AI and GenAI to thrive and help unlock greater value from our data. As part of the wider Commercial Lines leadership community, you will also partner across the Group and with technology leaders to drive growth, efficiency and responsible innovation.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience leading large-scale data engineering, data platform or enterprise data teams within a complex, highly regulated organisation, with a track record of building high-performing teams and developing senior talent.

• Strong strategic leadership capability, with experience shaping data strategy, influencing executive stakeholders and translating business priorities into scalable data capabilities that deliver measurable commercial value.

• Strong understanding of modern data management disciplines, with experience embedding effective data governance, quality and control at scale.

• Experience delivering modern cloud-based data platforms and engineering practices that enable advanced analytics, AI and GenAI, including automation, platform modernisation and engineering excellence.

• Strong commercial, risk and regulatory awareness, with the ability to balance innovation, control and delivery in a regulated environment, including GDPR, Consumer Duty and data governance requirements

• Salary: circa £130,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
• Bonus opportunity – 25% of annual salary Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
