Are you an experienced leader in Governance, Risk, and Assurance within the field of Artificial Intelligence? Are you ready to shape the future of AI risk management at Aviva? If so, this is your opportunity to lead a high-impact team and drive strategic oversight across our AI initiatives.
As Head of Governance, Risk and Assurance, you will provide direction, oversight, and robust governance of Aviva’s global AI risk and control environment, including oversight of key suppliers. Your work will ensure that Aviva continues to protect its customers and shareholders while embracing innovation.
You will also be accountable for the effective design and management of Aviva’s internal governance structures and processes for AI. This includes leading ExCo-level Group and Market forums, ensuring strategic alignment across the Group, and delivering visibility of outcomes and benefits at a Group-wide level.
A bit about the job:
As a Head of Governance, Risk and Assurance you will be responsible for:
- Lead the governance and assurance strategy for GenAI across Aviva.
- Oversee risk and control frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers and ensure third-party risk is effectively mitigated.
- Design and manage internal governance forums, including ExCo-level engagement.
- Ensure alignment of GenAI initiatives with Group strategy and provide visibility of outcomes and benefits.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in governance, risk, and assurance within AI, technology, or financial services.
- Strong understanding of AI-related regulatory, ethical, and operational risks.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior executives.
- Ability to design and implement governance frameworks in complex, matrixed environments.
- Strategic thinker with a strong focus on outcomes, compliance, and customer protection.

- National salary £100,000 - £130,000 and London salary £130,000 - £160,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity – 25% of annual salary Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
