Lead Java Developer
We're looking for a Lead Java Developer to join us on a 24-month fixed-term contract and provide technical leadership across our Life Platforms estate. In this role, you'll help shape the technical direction of a complex application landscape, ensuring consistency, alignment and high engineering standards across multiple teams and platforms.
Working closely with senior engineers, architects and business stakeholders, you'll drive technical decision-making, simplify complexity and support the delivery of secure, scalable solutions that meet customer and business needs. Duties & Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership across the Life Platforms estate, setting clear direction and enabling teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Lead technical decision-making and architectural discussions across multiple applications, ensuring alignment with engineering and business objectives.
Collaborate with senior engineers, architects and application SMEs to drive consistency, reduce complexity and remove delivery blockers.
Communicate technical priorities, risks and opportunities clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Champion engineering excellence through modern development practices, continuous improvement and the adoption of AI-assisted development tools.
Skills & Experience
Strong experience developing enterprise applications using Java (Java 17+), Spring Boot, JPA and Hibernate.
Proven expertise in microservices, API integration and designing scalable, resilient solutions.
Experience working with relational databases, containerisation technologies and CI/CD pipelines.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions, influence senior engineers and drive decisions in complex environments.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes.

The expected pay range for this role will fall between €80,000 and €90,000 and salary offered will commensurate with candidate's level of skills and experience.
