A bit about the job:

As a Principal Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and delivering data engineering solutions that support Aviva’s business goals. You’ll be part of the Technology Platforms team within Group IT, helping to shape the roadmap for Snowflake and DBT tooling. Your work will enable better decision-making across the business—from pricing and marketing to fraud detection and regulatory reporting. You’ll collaborate with architects, platform leads, and business stakeholders to ensure our data platforms are scalable, secure, and future-ready.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience designing and delivering data products using Snowflake and modern data tooling.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • Deep understanding of data governance, architecture, and emerging concepts like Data Mesh.
  • Experience leading or contributing to multi-year strategic data initiatives.
  • A curious mindset with a passion for continuous learning and staying ahead of data trends.

  • Starting salary circa £100,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
