Duration:  6 months

Inside IR35

The Project Manager will lead the feasibility assessment and business case development for strategic initiatives within Aviva's UK Life business, supporting the evaluation of potential changes to existing propositions, structures and operating models. These initiatives are expected to focus on areas such as business simplification and the potential transfer or reorganisation of existing business, helping to shape Aviva's future operating model and customer proposition.

Key Responsibilities

These roles will be responsible for coordinating the assessment of strategic, financial, regulatory, operational, customer, capital and technology implications of the activity, culminating in robust recommendations and business cases for Executive and Board consideration. Working across one of 2 strategic projects, you'll bring together expertise from across the business to evaluate complex options, assess impacts and support informed decision-making.

The roles are focused on evaluation and decision support initially, rather than the delivery of any subsequent implementation programme itself.

You'll take ownership of project planning and governance, building and maintaining detailed project plans while ensuring appropriate controls, reporting and decision-making frameworks are in place. You'll manage scope, RAID (risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies), budgets and resources, ensuring risks and issues are identified, assessed and escalated appropriately.

You'll work closely with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts across Finance, Risk, Operations, Technology, Legal and Compliance to coordinate analysis and business case development activities. Through strong stakeholder management and effective communication, you'll keep teams aligned on objectives, facilitate collaboration across multiple workstreams, and provide clear, timely reporting to programme sponsors and governance forums.

These opportunities offer the chance to work on high-profile strategic initiatives with significant customer, regulatory and commercial considerations, engaging with senior stakeholders across the business and contributing to decisions that will influence Aviva's long-term direction.

Skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2 / APM / PMI) or equivalent experience (Essential)

  • Experience delivering change projects within a Finance environment, ideally within a Life or Pensions business

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including producing clear status reporting, holding honest conversations about performance, and facilitating decision-making

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and suppliers to deliver outcomes, managing dependencies and change impacts

 Desirable:

  • Experience with With Profits funds and financial management

  • Project delivery within a finance function would be advantageous

  • Experience with legal entity restructuring, portfolio transfers, pensions funds or corporate transactions

  • Working knowledge of Agile and/or hybrid delivery approaches, with experience applying fit-for-purpose controls and reporting across the whole delivery lifecycle, adapting to the needs of the change where required
