Location: Leatherhead or Norwich
Salary: Circa 100k
This is a great job for someone who has hands-on applied AI experience, and deep understanding of Quality Engineering space, and wants to shape how AI is adopted across a large organisation to deliver real business value. This role offers the chance to make a lasting impact across Aviva.
A bit about the job:
AI is transforming how we build, deliver and assure technology, and this role will help shape that future at Aviva. You'll be accountable for:
- Adaption of AI within QE delivery lifecycle, helping modernise testing practices and unlock the benefits of AI across the organisation. Working closely with Engineering, Architecture, Product and Risk teams, you'll identify and unlock opportunities to improve productivity, increase automation and accelerate delivery while maintaining high standards of quality and governance. You'll lead innovation across the Quality Engineering function, creating reusable tools, frameworks and accelerators that help teams adopt AI effectively.
- Validation of AI business solutions - You will own the delivery for all validation activities of our AI business solutions. You'll establish the frameworks, standards and controls needed to assure AI-powered solutions. This includes developing approaches for testing AI business applications by implementing evaluation, observability, reliability and latency monitoring capabilities, and ensuring AI solutions meet responsible AI, security and governance requirements before they reach customers.
- Building organisational capability by coaching our QE engineers and leaders while establishing best practices and communities of practice. As Aviva's technical authority for AI within Quality Engineering, you'll provide strategic leadership on emerging technologies, industry trends and regulatory developments. You'll balance innovation with risk management, enabling teams to experiment confidently while maintaining customer trust and operational resilience.
Skills and experience we're looking for:
- Extensive hands-on Applied AI experience implementing AI capabilities within large-scale software engineering organisations, with a track record of delivering measurable business outcomes and productivity improvements.
- Strong Quality Engineering background, with hands-on experience in testing, evaluating and validating AI-powered solutions including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and agentic AI systems.

- Deep software engineering expertise, ideally including Python, with experience building scalable, secure and resilient platforms, frameworks and engineering standards. Hands-on experience on either Arize or DeepEval or similar market leading tools
