A bit about the job
This role exists to lead Aviva’s reinsurance claims portfolio and protect the business through excellent technical reinsurance claims handling.
You’ll join our Major & Complex Reinsurance Claims team, which manages high‑value, complex recoveries across multiple business lines.
The team works closely with underwriting, finance, actuarial, and risk to support profitable growth.
You’ll lead reinsurance claim handlers, oversee performance, and ensure consistent, compliant reinsurance claims outcomes.
You’ll be accountable for portfolio results, strong market relationships, and developing a market‑leading reinsurance claims proposition.
Skills and experience we’re looking for
- Proven experience handling complex reinsurance claims, including treaty and facultative covers.
- Strong understanding of legal, regulatory, and commercial considerations in reinsurance claims.
- Experience managing or overseeing others, with the ability to coach and develop capability.
- Confidence working with reinsurers, brokers, and senior internal stakeholders.
- A relevant professional qualification, such as ACII or qualification as a solicitor is preferrable but not essential.

- Starting salary circa £80.000-£85.000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
