Senior Cloud Engineer – Salary of Circa £60,000 (National) or £80,000 (London)

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our growing Cloud Platform Engineering team. Are you someone who can work confidently across Cloud technologies and would like to expand your experience, working within a cutting-edge environment? 

Working within a Financial Services organisation, for the benefit of millions of customers, this role will give you the opportunity to learn and work across a large, dynamic cloud platform. Help us to scale, be more efficient and better serve our customers. 

A bit about the role: 

The Senior Cloud Engineer is an individual contributor who provides technical guidance and expertise for junior team members whilst delivering important and complex projects. You will analyse and identify recommendations for improvements that can be implemented in line with Aviva’s technology priorities. This role will empower you to own the work you deliver, collaborating with our internal customer engineering teams and engineering leaders to create value for them and Aviva’s customers. 

You should be confident with AWS or Azure Cloud Engineering processes, implementing best practice using Infrastructure as Code, and setting the standard for how we should be developing in the cloud. 

Our tech stack includes AWS, Azure, Containers, Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, Python, Lambda. 

Skills and experience we’re looking for: 

  • Proficient in administering an AWS or Azure cloud platform, utilising Terraform, Python and Jenkins. 

  • Be a first-class communicator, encouraging collaboration across teams spanning multiple locations and disciplines 

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to articulate complex technical problems to technical and non-technical audiences 

  • A track record of continuously improving and developing services to make them more efficient and valuable for our end users 

  • Being a good leader – working with our more junior engineers to set examples, and best practice standards to support them in the work they do and their future careers

  • Starting salary circa £60,000 (National), £80,000 (London) (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
