Agriculture & Estate Schemes Underwriter – Delegated Authority Team
Agriculture & Estate Schemes Underwriter – Delegated Authority Team - Salary ranges from £40,000 - £60,000
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join our UK-wide Delegated Authority/Schemes team, with a focus on Agriculture and Estate-based insurance schemes.
As a Technical Underwriter in this specialist area, you will be responsible for servicing brokers who hold delegated authority for agricultural and estate schemes. You’ll act as the primary contact for referrals that fall outside of their authority, providing expert guidance and underwriting decisions.
This role involves close collaboration with broker partners to assess complex risks related to farming operations, rural estates, and associated commercial activities. It requires a strong understanding of agricultural underwriting and a proactive approach to relationship management and continuous learning.
A bit about the job:
Handle day-to-day referrals outside of brokers’ delegated authority, offering clear and well-reasoned underwriting decisions.
Support the Schemes Underwriting Lead in delivering initiatives and recommending improvements to enhance scheme performance.
Maintain a strong understanding of scheme governance and regulatory requirements specific to delegated authority in the agriculture and estate sectors.
Mentor and support less experienced colleagues, helping to build technical capability across the team.
Continuously develop your own skills in line with Licence to Grade requirements and evolving market trends.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
Proven experience in underwriting agricultural risks, rural estates, or commercial property and liability within the farming sector.
Ability to assess complex and non-standard risks and provide technical guidance to junior team members.
Confidence in leading discussions with broker partners, with a focus on achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.
Strong communication, time management and negotiation skills.
