A bit about the job:
We’re expanding our regional construction capability and have created this new role to bridge the gap between our London Market Construction team and regional underwriters. You’ll report to the Regional Specialty Lines Construction Manager and play a key role in growing our presence in the market. You’ll lead trading activity, support colleagues, and help shape how we deliver for our customers.
FYI - This role will involve extensive regional travel as well as require regular attendance at our Birmingham office!
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
Good knowledge of Construction or Engineering & Casualty Insurance, with strong underwriting experience required - including specific project and annual risks. ACII or similar qualification or working towards is highly desirable!
Experience of leading and following co-insured business and dealing with re-insurance
Experience of applying underwriting knowledge to effectively improve processes/procedures as well as managing your own underwriting caseload within a regulatory environment (following due process and within set authority limits).
Ability to analyse complex information and draw out the relevant facts.
Excellent business development/customer engagement skills i.e., be able to demonstrate the ability to influence key contacts in the marketplace .
