We currently have an exciting opportunity for an SME Property and Liability Portfolio Lead.

We’re looking for someone to lead the performance of the Property and Liability business within the SME team. You’ll work closely with our Performance Management team to shape underwriting strategy, improve products, and deliver on our goals for growth, profitability, and service.

This role is all about making sure we stay ahead – by setting clear technical standards, supporting brokers, and driving great customer outcomes. You’ll also play a key role in developing our people and sharing your expertise across the team.

A bit about the job:

  • As the SME Property and Liability Portfolio Lead you will be responsible for developing, reviewing and maintaining underwriting strategy and frameworks, whilst adhering to controls, regulation and relevant legislation.

  • You will support the underwriting teams to handle complex technical referrals and queries, undertake technical development, audits and process reviews and support the implementation of changes within the team to policies and processes.

  • Review and develop products, propositions and related documentation whilst developing risk appetite and guidance.

  • Collaborate with other teams to resolve complex technical underwriting issues and demands on the SME business, acting as a point of escalation for more junior staff.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulations, provide guidance, training and support to the broader SME teams, participate in various projects and initiatives as required.

  • Support the delivery of good customer outcomes through all activities and deliverables, enabling us to act in good faith towards customers, avoid causing foreseeable harm and enable and support our customers to pursue their financial objectives.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Strong background in Property and Liability underwriting.

  • Comfortable managing performance and delivering results.

  • Experience of leading teams or mentoring others.

  • Confident working with senior stakeholders and driving strategy.

  • Excellent understanding of the insurance industry with a broad knowledge of external regulators
