Software Engineer
Software Engineer – Starting salary circa £35,000
As a Software Engineer aligned to our retirement platforms, you will specialise in our Bulk Purchase Annuity Policy Administration System (Administrator BPA). You’ll be responsible for delivering change and run activity aligned with platform strategy, ensuring system health, and maintaining technical governance across the estate.
A bit about the job:
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled individual to join our team in a dynamic platform operations role. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for managing system performance and availability, including incident management and recovery. You will support both development and maintenance activities, delivering change and run operations aligned with platform strategy and governance, while overseeing release deployments and batch job execution.
In this role, you will ensure technical governance by maintaining high standards of code quality, compliance with IT and business policies, and adherence to technical specifications. You will also drive continuous improvement across technical and process areas to enhance delivery efficiency and customer outcomes.
Collaboration is key, and you will work closely with platform specialists, business analysts, and third-party vendors to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions. Additionally, you will maintain comprehensive technical documentation and support the onboarding of new schemes and change requests.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
Experience working with databases, including SQL and stored procedures.
Familiarity with configuring and tailoring third-party applications (e.g. EQ Administrator).
Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle, including configuration management.
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Exposure to Oracle DB, batch processing frameworks, and pension administration systems is desirable.

Starting salary circa £35,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
Bonus opportunity – 8% of annual salary Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
