Salary: £28,500 – £32,000

We’re looking for Trainee Claims Assessors to join our growing team in Bristol or York. If you’re naturally curious, open to challenges, and keen to simplify how things are done – we’d love to hear from you.

A bit about the job
You’ll be part of our Protection Claims Team, supporting customers during some of life’s most difficult moments.
You’ll assess claims for Terminal Illness, Critical Illness and Death Benefit, working closely with medical professionals to gather the right evidence.
You’ll also engage with internal and external stakeholders to make sure we follow best practices and deliver fair outcomes.
This role involves sensitive conversations – including bereavement, serious illness, and complaints – so empathy and confidence are key.
Skills and experience we’re looking for
Experience in healthcare or protection claims
Strong communication skills – both written and over the phone
Great judgement and decision-making skills
Ability to explain decisions clearly and negotiate with customers
Organised, self-motivated, and a great team playeStarting salary – circa £25.100 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
Bonus opportunity - 6% of annual salary Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
Generous pension scheme - Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
