Underwriter

Salary: £45,000 – £55,000

This is a great opportunity for an experienced and career‑driven underwriter who enjoys building strong relationships with brokers and customers.

This role would suit someone who thrives on understanding fleet insurance needs, using data and insight to shape underwriting decisions, and delivering tailored solutions in a fast‑paced, commercial environment

A bit about the job:

You’ll be part of one of our Southeast underwriting teams, working collaboratively to support both the Senior Underwriter and Team Manager in delivering financial targets. The role focuses on underwriting motor fleet risks, developing broker relationships and contributing to profitable portfolio performance.

You’ll manage your own diary in a busy environment, balancing underwriting activity with broker engagement and internal collaboration. Alongside this, you’ll support the development of others within the team and continue to build your own technical capability, including working towards underwriting licence levels aligned to your grade.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Previous underwriting experience, with motor fleet experience preferred but not essential

  • Ability to assess and analyse fleet risks and communicate decisions clearly to brokers and/or customers

  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Confidence working collaboratively within a large, complex organisation

  • Good knowledge of FCA requirements and other relevant insurance regulation and legislation, combined with strong commercial acumen
