This is a great job for someone who…
Loves shaping the future of engineering through AI. If you’ve worked close to software development, understand how engineers build and ship great products, and are excited by tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude or Codex, this role gives you the chance to make a real difference.
You’ll enjoy influencing at scale, working hands-on with new technology, and helping teams do their best work.
A bit about the job
AI‑enabled engineering is becoming a core capability at Aviva. This role exists to make sure we do it well — safely, responsibly, and at scale.
As Product Owner for AI Engineering Platforms, you’ll shape the vision, roadmap and adoption of AI‑driven development tools across Aviva.
You’ll work closely with engineers, platform teams, risk and senior leaders to help our teams code faster, improve quality, and deliver more value for our customers. Your focus will be turning emerging technology into everyday tools that genuinely help our people.
Skills and experience we’re looking for
Strong hands‑on software engineering background: Proven experience designing, writing and delivering production‑ready, secure and robust code in languages such as Python, Java or C#. Confident with modern engineering practices including DevOps / DevSecOps, secure coding standards, automated testing (unit, integration and performance), scalability and performance optimisation, plus production code analysis and incident reviews.
Technology adoption at scale: A track record of successfully rolling out new tools or engineering practices across large teams or organisations, including planning and delivering change management, training and enablement so new technology sticks.
Vendor and platform management: Experience evaluating and managing third‑party technology platforms, including assessing vendor roadmaps, navigating procurement and security reviews, and ensuring solutions meet both engineering needs and business outcomes.
Clear communicator and trusted partner: Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with software engineers, data specialists, platform teams and senior technology leaders, adapting your message for different audiences.
Governance‑led and data‑driven mindset: A solid understanding of risk, security and compliance in technology environments. Comfortable using metrics such as ROI, productivity, code quality and adoption to guide decisions and demonstrate value, with awareness of responsible AI principles and ethical AI use.
