AI Governance Lead

Salary: Circa: £90k

Location: Norwich, Bristol or York

Are you someone who enjoys shaping governance and risk frameworks in a fast-moving technology environment while enabling innovation at scale?

We're looking for an AI Governance Lead to play a key role in defining how Aviva adopts and governs AI. This is an exciting opportunity to influence decisions that support the responsible use of AI across Aviva, ensuring our governance approach keeps pace with changing technology, regulation and business expectations.

You'll work with senior stakeholders across the business, helping to develop practical governance solutions that balance effective risk management with innovation and business value.

A bit about the job:

AI is becoming an increasingly important part of how we support customers, colleagues and our business. As our use of AI grows, you'll help ensure our governance approach remains practical, effective and aligned with regulatory expectations. You'll work with teams across Risk, Technology, Data, Cyber, Legal, Compliance and the wider business to support the safe and responsible use of AI.

You'll lead the evolution of our AI governance framework, operating model and risk management approach as new technologies and use cases emerge. You'll help ensure governance enables innovation while providing effective oversight and supporting business value.

Skills and experience we're looking for:

  • Proven experience designing, implementing or evolving governance, risk or control frameworks within a large and complex regulated organisation.
  • Strong understanding of technology, data, AI or model-related risks, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and governance forums, including producing proposals, recommendations and reporting that support decision making.
  • A track record of leading transformation or operating model change while balancing effective risk management with business outcomes
  • Good understanding of regulatory expectations and risk management practices, with the judgement to apply proportionate controls in a changing technology environment.
