A bit about the job

As Assurance Engineering Lead for the Oasis Platform, you will be responsible for establishing and leading the assurance capability that underpins Aviva's strategic AI ecosystem. Working across software engineering, AI engineering, security, risk and governance, you will define the standards, frameworks and practices that provide confidence in the quality, reliability, safety and trustworthiness of AI solutions deployed across the organisation.

You will drive the development of modern AI assurance capabilities, including automated testing, evaluation frameworks, AI red teaming, observability, reliability engineering and AI safety controls. Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Assurance, Security and Risk teams, you will ensure assurance is embedded throughout the AI development lifecycle, enabling teams to innovate rapidly while maintaining robust quality and governance standards. This is a highly influential role that will help shape Aviva's approach to responsible AI and establish the Oasis Platform as a centre of excellence for AI engineering and assurance.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Strong software, platform and quality engineering background, with experience designing and implementing automated testing, validation and assurance frameworks.

• Experience working with Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and AI-powered applications, with a solid understanding of AI evaluation methodologies.
• Proven ability to build scalable engineering standards, quality gates and assurance controls within CI/CD and modern engineering delivery pipelines.
• Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders across Engineering, Product, Security, Risk and Governance functions, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to balance innovation, engineering quality, operational resilience and risk management.

What you’ll get for this role:

• Salary circa £90,000 for National based (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
