Board Support Manager
Board Support Manager – Salary circa £70,000
This role would suit an experienced governance professional who has previously worked in a Board or Committee support role within a plc or similarly complex organisation. It is ideal for someone confident engaging with senior stakeholders, including Non‑Executive Directors and Executive leadership, and who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑standards environment.
You will be highly organised, detail‑focused and comfortable taking ownership of end‑to‑end board processes, ensuring meetings, materials and governance practices are delivered to an exceptional standard. This opportunity is well‑suited to someone looking to step into a pivotal, hands‑on role where they can act as a trusted advisor, contribute to continuous improvement, and play a key role at the centre of Board and Committee activity.
A bit about the job:
Reporting to the Board Operations Manager, this role is responsible for delivering end‑to‑end support for Board and Committee activities, ensuring a seamless and professional experience for directors and stakeholders. It involves acting as a key liaison between Non‑Executive Directors, Executive leadership and internal teams, while coordinating meetings, offsites and strategy sessions.
You will oversee the preparation, quality control and distribution of board materials, ensuring governance processes are efficient, consistent and aligned with best practice. The role also includes maintaining strong governance discipline across agendas, minutes and action tracking, while supporting the Board “front door” to manage inputs and requests.
Additionally, you will support the Non‑Executive Director lifecycle, including induction and development, and build strong relationships across the business to ensure high‑quality contributions to Board and Committee discussions.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Extensive experience supporting plc Boards and Committees, including managing governance processes and meeting cycles.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, engaging confidently with Non-Executive Directors and senior executives.
- Solid knowledge of corporate governance best practice, frameworks, and relevant legislation.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight, complex deadlines and detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.
- Qualified, part‑qualified, or working towards a professional governance qualification (CGI/ICSA), with relevant corporate governance experience.

- Salary circa £70,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity - 10% of annual salary Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
