We've an exciting opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join Aviva Ireland. This role provides integrated legal, regulatory and governance advice to our Life & Pensions business, supporting a wide range of strategic and operational activity. You’ll be part of a busy and influential legal team that prides itself on clear, practical advice and strong collaboration across the business. Reporting to the Head of Legal you’ll be based in our Dublin OPP office with the flexibility of hybrid smart working. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and pragmatic legal advice to the Life & Pensions business, with particular support to Pensions Technical and Customer Experience teams.
  • Support the Head of Legal and wider team in identifying, managing and mitigating legal, regulatory and reputational risks.
  • Advise on new business initiatives, programmes, services and products to enable informed and compliant decision‑making.
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts including agency, investment management and custody agreements.
  • Manage your own workload effectively, working independently while contributing positively to a collaborative legal team.

Skills & experience

  • Substantial PQE previous in-house experience in a Financial Services/Regulatory environment.
  • Strong understanding of pensions law and regulation, including trusts, within an Irish or comparable regulatory framework.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with proven experience managing contracts from inception through to completion.
  • Experience within life assurance or the wider financial services sector.
  • Commercial experience including exposure to outsourcing arrangements.
