This is a great job for someone who...

Is a General Insurance Actuary looking to broaden their experience across capital, catastrophe risk and reinsurance. This role offers the opportunity to become a key member of the Group Reinsurance team, supporting Aviva's General Insurance business units and working with a wide range of stakeholders. If you enjoy translating complex data into actionable insights, demonstrating the value of robust risk management, and influencing strategic business decisions, this could be the role for you

A bit about the job:

You'll join Aviva's Group Reinsurance team, supporting the management of catastrophe risk, capital optimisation and reinsurance strategy across the General Insurance business. In this role, you'll quantify catastrophe risk using external models, claims experience, research and internal expertise to support regulatory requirements and capital model calibration. You'll help optimise reinsurance structures by balancing cost, volatility management and capital benefits, while ensuring Aviva remains within its risk appetite. You'll also provide regular catastrophe risk reporting, deliver insights to senior stakeholders, and collaborate with internal and external partners to support reinsurance purchasing and risk management activities.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Experience of General Insurance actuarial modelling techniques, including preparing input data, running models and interpreting results.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver work independently and collaboratively.

  • Strong programming and analytical skills, including experience using R.

  • Knowledge of capital modelling and reinsurance concepts
