Capital Manager
The Capital Manager is a key member of the Financial Performance team within Aviva Life and Pensions Ireland. Reporting to the Head of Capital Management, this role works closely with Actuarial, Risk and the wider business to support strategic initiatives and transactions that optimise the balance sheet and risk profile.
You’ll provide high‑quality capital and liquidity insight to support management decision‑making across planning, sensitivities, solvency monitoring and financial reporting. This is a highly visible role with strong exposure across the business, contributing directly to value creation and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Support business growth by shaping strategies that optimise capital and liquidity usage, realise value from the back book and enable profitable new business growth.
Provide expert capital and liquidity advice to the Head of Capital Management and senior stakeholders across the business.
Deliver commercial analysis and implementation plans to support capital optimisation initiatives, transactions and reinsurance development.
Lead and contribute to capital, ALM and investment initiatives, including portfolio optimisation, capital structuring and shareholder asset allocation.
Collaborate closely with Risk, Finance and Proposition teams to ensure capital‑efficient product design, investment strategy and a robust risk and control environment.
Skills and Experience
Qualification as an Actuary and membership of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland or another recognised international actuarial body.
Strong knowledge of the life insurance industry, including statutory, legal, regulatory and corporate governance frameworks.
Deep technical expertise in capital modelling, including design, parameterisation, documentation and production of capital metrics.
Proven ability to analyse complex data, assess alternatives and develop clear, commercial solutions.
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to explain complex actuarial and financial concepts to non‑technical stakeholders; experience or exposure to investments, funded reinsurance and/or transactions is an advantage.
What will you get for this role?
The expected pay range for this role will fall between €79,500 and €148,000 and salary offered will commensurate with candidate's level of skills and experience.
Other discretionary benefits at this grade may include an additional car allowance of €9,000 per annum.
