Cloud Security Architect

Location: Norwich, Bristol or York

Salary: Crica: 70K

This is a great role for someone who loves shaping secure cloud platforms at scale and wants to influence how we build and protect technology across Aviva.

A bit about the job

You’ll operate at the centre of Technical Design Authority (TDA), influencing architecture decisions at scale and ensuring that security is embedded consistently across all cloud platforms. You’ll define and assure High-Level Designs (HLDs), establish enterprise-wide security patterns and reference architectures, and drive adoption of reusable, secure design constructs across Azure and AWS.

You’ll work closely with Cloud Platforms, Architecture, Security, and Engineering leadership to translate business and technology strategy into clear, scalable, and secure architecture principles and security guardrails. Your work will directly enable faster delivery while maintaining strong risk control and regulatory alignment.

You’ll also play a key role in evolving Aviva’s cloud security architecture strategy, setting direction for patterns, standards, and design governance, and mentoring engineers to raise the overall security maturity and posture of the organisation.

Skills and experience we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a Cloud Architect or Cloud Security Architect at enterprise scale, with strong influence in architecture governance or TDA forums
  • Experience defining and reviewing High-Level Designs (HLDs) and enterprise architecture artefacts
  • Strong knowledge of Azure and AWS, including networking, IAM and platform security capabilities
  • Track record of creating and driving adoption of cloud security patterns and secure-by-design approaches
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and shape architecture strategy, with a good understanding of risk and regulation in financial services (or similar industries)
