Location: Norwich or Leeds
Salary: Circa £55,000

This is a great opportunity for a Data Science professional looking to take a leading role in shaping how advanced analytics deliver real business and customer outcomes  within our Counter Fraud department.

A bit about the job

You'll join our Data Science & Advanced Analytics team, driving some of the most innovative initiatives across General Insurance and Counter Fraud. As a Lead Data Scientist, you'll take ownership of the design, development and deployment of advanced machine learning solutions that improve the claims experience for both customers and colleagues.

Working closely with business leaders, engineers and analytics teams, you'll translate complex business challenges into scalable data science solutions, helping shape the future direction of our analytics capability. You'll provide technical leadership across projects, champion best practice in modelling and experimentation, and ensure solutions are developed in line with governance, risk and regulatory requirements.

You'll be responsible for delivering models from concept through to production, monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for ongoing optimisation. Alongside your technical expertise, you'll play an important role in mentoring colleagues, influencing stakeholders, and contributing to our data science standards, frameworks and ways of working within Agile, cross-functional teams.

Skills and experience we're looking for

  • Proven experience applying machine learning, statistical modelling and advanced analytics to solve complex business challenges and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Strong technical capability in Python and SQL, with experience developing production-ready analytical solutions.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance, sharing knowledge and supporting the development of colleagues.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and translate complex concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience leading projects, workstreams or small teams, with a track record of driving delivery and building strong relationships across the business.
