The role suits someone with hands-on experience of AWS serverless technologies, who is excited to lead the development of reusable patterns and constructs. It may also suit an experienced engineer ready to take on more strategic responsibilities, or someone who has supported AWS serverless implementations and wants to broaden their influence. 

A bit about the job:

This role sits within Aviva’s Investments, Wealth & Retirement Cloud Engineering team, working closely with platform and product teams to modernise their technology estate using AWS serverless solutions. You’ll design and develop reusable cloud patterns, provide expert consultancy during migrations, and drive high standards for security, resilience, and cost‑effectiveness. You’ll also mentor engineers across the organisation and collaborate on shared capabilities such as observability, automation, and security.

You’ll lead the design and development of reusable cloud patterns, provide expert consultancy during platform and application migrations, ensure solutions are secure, resilient and cost‑effective, act as a technical mentor, and collaborate across teams on initiatives such as security and observability.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS ECS, and serverless technologies 
  • Infrastructure as code using Terraform (and optionally, AWS CDK) 
  • Extensive experience building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub 
  • Strong focus on automation and secure coding 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Salary circa £70,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
