General Ledger Close and Financial Reporting Manager

Location: Norwich or York based (50% hybrid working)

Salary: circa £50,000 - £55,000 depending on experience

This is a great job for an experienced accountant with general ledger and financial reporting expertise who would be interested in joining one of the largest insurance companies of the UK in a varied and exciting general ledger and financial reporting focused role.

A bit about the job:

You’ll join our Group External Reporting team (specifically in the Group Centre Finance team), making sure Aviva’s financial records are accurate and complete every month. Your work will keep our balance sheet strong and support external reporting (both on a group and legal entity reporting level). You’ll review key transactions, lead governance checks and control oversight, help produce forecasts (and track performance against them), support the production of senior management packs and produce financial statements.

You will work closely with the rest of the Group Centre team here in the UK and manage the output of our WNS colleagues in Sri Lanka while also gaining good exposure to senior stakeholders. This role is vital to maintaining trust and transparency across Aviva. If this sounds appealing to you, and you want to make an impact, then we’d love to hear from you.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with prior experience of undertaking a Finance role(s), preferably with external/internal reporting and general ledger experience.
• Knowledge of financial control framework and finance systems (e.g. Oracle Fusion)
• Good organisational skills, with ability to manage numerous tasks at once.
• Good interpersonal skills i.e. be able to communicate clearly with senior management
• Strong analytical mindset alongside excellent problem-solving skills and ability to identify and implement process improvements.
