A bit about the job 

We’re recruiting a Group Data Governance Lead to help shape and strengthen how data is governed across Aviva. 

You’ll join our Group Data Governance & Privacy team, setting the standards and guardrails that guide how data is managed, protected and used across the Group. 

You’ll lead a team and work closely with colleagues across business, technology and data communities, influencing how we manage data throughout its lifecycle.

Your work will help Aviva meet regulatory expectations, build trust in our data and embed a strong data culture across a complex, federated organisation. 

We work in a smart working way, so you can be based anywhere commutable to one of our UK offices, combining flexibility with time spent collaborating with colleagues. 

Skills and experience we’re looking for 

  • A strong understanding of the risks and opportunities of managing data across its lifecycle 

  • Practical experience across key data management disciplines, including Critical Data Identification, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Reference Data Management, Data Retention and Data Ethics 

  • Proven experience influencing and managing stakeholders, including those who may not be data literate, ideally within a federated environment 

  • Experience working with data governance, privacy or quality tooling such as Informatica EDC or Axon, Collibra, Immuta, BigID, or similar 

  • Experience working in Financial Services or another regulated sector
