Head of Compliance (SMF16) – Lloyd’s – salary circa £150,000 (DOE)

Are you someone who thrives on leading with integrity and shaping a culture of compliance?

This is a great job for someone with deep experience in compliance within a Lloyd’s Managing Agency — who’s ready to take on a senior leadership role. If you’ve worked closely with regulators, led compliance teams, and know how to navigate Lloyd’s, the PRA, and the FCA, this could be your next step. You’ll be confident in providing challenge, building frameworks, and influencing strategy at the highest level.

A bit about the job

As Head of Compliance, you’ll lead the Compliance function of Aviva’s Lloyd’s Managing Agency. You’ll be responsible for maintaining an effective compliance framework, overseeing conduct risk, and ensuring regulatory obligations are met. You’ll attend the Risk Committee and sit on the Executive Committee, providing expert advice and challenge on compliance matters. Your role will be central to shaping a risk-aware, customer-focused culture and supporting the business in delivering fair outcomes. You’ll also hold the SMF16 and SMF 17 designations under the Senior Managers and Certification Regime.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Extensive senior compliance experience in the Lloyd’s market
  • SMF 16 with strong knowledge of FCA, PRA and Lloyd’s regulatory frameworks
  • Experience of managing relationships with regulators and leading compliance teams
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to influence and challenge constructively
  • Solid understanding of financial crime controls and SM&CR requirements

What you’ll get for this role:

In this role you’ll be ‘Approved’ under the Financial Conduct Authority / Prudential Regulation Authority’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR). This means that we’ll need to complete some regulatory background checks on you before you take up your role, we'll need to submit a regulatory application to the PRA / FCA, and they will need to grant approval. In the unlikely event that they did not grant approval, you would not be able to undertaken the role.  SMCR also requires an annual re-confirmation of that you remain ‘fit and proper’ to carry out your role; we'll ask you some questions in July annually to confirm this.  Following your approval by the regulators, we will provide training on your responsibilities as an approved SMCR person.

Our purpose - with you today, for a better tomorrow – is a promise we make to our colleagues too.  And one of the ways we live up to that promise is by investing in you.  We have so much to offer when it comes to being an Aviva colleague.
