Head of Transformation
We’re looking for a Head of Transformation to join Aviva Life & Pensions Ireland (ALPI) on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This is a senior leadership role with a direct impact on the delivery of ALPI’s strategic and regulatory change agenda. Reporting to the Chief Transformation Officer, you’ll lead a team of change professionals and oversee a complex portfolio of programmes that are critical to the future of the business. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across ALPI and the wider Aviva Group, ensuring change is delivered safely, effectively, and with measurable outcomes. Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the ALPI transformation portfolio
Oversee the delivery of strategic and regulatory change initiatives, ensuring alignment with ALPI’s long-term goals. Provide assurance on programme readiness, escalate risks, and ensure initiatives meet gating and governance standards. - Shape and support change initiatives
Guide the development of business cases and delivery plans, ensuring they are robust, benefit-led, and achievable. Support sponsors in setting up change for success and tracking progress against agreed outcomes. - Drive governance and insight
Ensure effective operation of the Transformation Committee, including high-quality MI on milestones, benefits, risks, and budget. Represent the portfolio at senior forums and provide clear, actionable insights to drive decision-making. - Engage and influence stakeholders
Build strong relationships across ALPI and the wider Aviva Group. Influence decision-making at all levels, including Board and ExCo, and act as a trusted advisor on transformation delivery. - Lead and develop the Transformation team
Manage a team of programme and project managers, PMO professionals, and business analysts. Define the future operating model, support training and development, and ensure the team is equipped to deliver ALPI’s transformation ambitions. - Support strategic planning and prioritisation
Contribute to ALPI’s 3-year planning process by providing insight into in-flight and proposed change. Drive prioritisation of non-BAU activity and ensure transformation investments are aligned to business strategy and capacity.
Skills & Experiences
- Extensive transformation leadership experience
You’ve led large-scale, complex change portfolios or programmes, ideally within insurance or financial services, and understand how to deliver value through transformation. - Exceptional stakeholder and communication skills
You’re confident engaging with senior leaders and Boards, and experienced in preparing high-quality reports, dashboards, and presentations that drive action. - Strong commercial and analytical mindset
You can track and interpret benefits, costs, and risks, and provide insightful analysis to support strategic decisions. - Risk and governance awareness
You understand how to manage change risk, ensure compliance with frameworks like the Aviva Change Framework (ACF), and respond to audit and assurance reviews. - Versatile project delivery knowledge
You’re familiar with a range of delivery methodologies and can tailor your approach to suit the size, complexity, and nature of each initiative. - Inspiring leadership
You’ve led high-performing teams, built capability, and created a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
