Mechanical Engineer Surveyor

We’re looking for an Engineer Surveyor to join Aviva Engineering Services, playing a key role in delivering high‑quality statutory inspection and risk insight for our customers. This field‑based role covers the Mid‑Leinster region (however open to other urban regions), supporting customers locally while working as part of a national engineering community.

You’ll take ownership of inspection activity across a defined portfolio of customers, ensuring our engineering inspections are consistent, practical and aligned to both statutory requirements and customer needs. Working closely with underwriters, brokers and policyholders, you’ll help improve safety, manage risk and support informed underwriting decisions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality statutory inspections across Lifting, Pressure and Electrical plant, ensuring compliance with legislative and Aviva standards.

  • Manage a defined customer portfolio, planning and completing inspections within agreed timeframes.

  • Identify, assess and report risks to Underwriters and Policyholders, supporting effective risk management decisions.

  • Produce clear, accurate inspection reports on site using Aviva’s digital inspection systems.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant engineering qualification (minimum Level 6) supported by practical experience.

  • Passenger lift experience or qualified electrician would be advantageous.

  • Strong technical knowledge of defects, failure modes, damage and deterioration mechanisms.

  • Proven ability to manage customer relationships and prioritise work to meet statutory deadlines.

  • Full clean driving licence and confidence using digital systems, including Microsoft Office.
