Operational Risk Controls Testing Manager – Salary circa £45,000
This is a great job for someone who has strong experience in controls testing and operational risk frameworks and is keen to deepen their impact at Group level. You might currently be working in operational risk, controls assurance or audit and be ready to take on a broader second line oversight role. If you enjoy analysing detail, forming independent views and working with stakeholders to strengthen risk and control environments, this role offers exposure, learning and variety.
A bit about the job:
This role sits within the Group Operational Risk team, which provides independent second line oversight and governance of Aviva’s operational risk framework. As an Operational Risk Controls Testing Manager, you will support the Senior Operational Risk Manager to deliver the second line controls testing plan across the Group. In this role, you will provide independent, risk‑based assurance on the design and operating effectiveness of key controls, and how well ORCM is being applied. You will also produce clear, evidence‑based insights for senior stakeholders and help track and drive timely remediation. In this role, you will also support the ongoing governance and continuous improvement of Aviva’s core operational risk frameworks.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to quickly collate, analyse and formulate independent views on key themes and issues.
- Detailed understanding of Operational Risk management practices within the financial services sector and the related regulatory expectations.
- Detailed experience and understanding of controls assurance testing.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to challenge and influence decisions/outcomes effectively.
- Comprehensive understanding of the insurance sector, including life and/or general insurance business.

- Salary circa £45,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
