Lead Data Architect
We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Data Architect to shape the future of data at Aviva.
You’ll define and own our enterprise data architecture vision, working closely with senior leaders, solution architects and engineering teams to deliver modern, scalable and high‑quality data platforms. You’ll drive our Data & AI strategy, strengthen governance and help us build a truly data‑driven organisation.
This is a highly influential role with broad technical scope and real impact across Aviva Ireland.
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead the design, development and long‑term architecture of Aviva’s enterprise data and analytics platforms, aligned to the Data & AI strategy.
Translate business and data requirements into scalable solution designs, collaborating with analysts, stakeholders and engineering teams throughout discovery and design phases.
Define, maintain and govern architectural standards, including data reference architectures, playbooks and modern data warehousing patterns (e.g. Snowflake).
Present solution designs at data architecture governance forums, evaluate solution options and secure alignment through engagement with design and architecture boards.
Shape and own the enterprise data roadmap, identifying key pain points, defining transition states and partnering with SMEs to drive data maturity and deliver measurable business value.
Skills & Experience
Significant experience leading enterprise‑level data architecture and major data‑transformation programmes.
Deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience in Snowflake, AWS and modern data architecture approaches (e.g., data mesh, data fabric).
Strong grounding in data modelling, data management, data quality and metadata tooling (e.g., dbt, Collibra).
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, shape architectural direction and present solutions at governance forums.
Experience building target‑state architectures, roadmaps and high‑level designs that drive business value.
