Project Manager - Finance

This is a contract opportunity for someone who is an experienced Finance Project Manager with a strong track record of delivering complex finance and reporting initiatives within a large corporate environment. This role would suit a proactive individual who can quickly establish effective governance, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and ensure the successful delivery of critical financial reporting activities to demanding timelines.
You will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities, and driving accountability across finance teams and key business stakeholders. The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously while building strong collaborative relationships to ensure delivery of key reporting and planning milestones.
Key Responsibilities
Support the planning, finalisation, governance, and tracking of milestones against Quarterly Financial Reporting Working Day Timetables (WDT).
Monitor progress against reporting milestones, identify risks and dependencies, and escalate issues where appropriate.
Facilitate daily reporting and project calls, ensuring actions, issues, and decisions are effectively captured and followed through to completion.
Coordinate stakeholders across Finance, Actuarial, Investment, Risk, and wider business functions to support successful reporting delivery.
Plan, facilitate, and document post-reporting debrief sessions to identify lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities.
Drive the implementation and tracking of agreed improvement actions from reporting debriefs.
Project manage the Assumptions Setting and Impact Assessment process, ensuring key deliverables are completed within agreed timelines.
Coordinate planning activities, governance forums, and stakeholder engagement throughout the assumptions review cycle.
Support the planning and project management of out-of-cycle financial activities, including:
Internal View reporting
IFRS Sensitivities
Expected Return exercises
Produce regular status reporting, highlighting progress, risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation actions.
Ensure robust project management disciplines, documentation, and governance are maintained throughout all assigned activities.
Support senior stakeholders with planning, decision-making, and prioritisation of critical finance initiatives.
Skills and Experience
Proven experience as a Finance Project Manager or PMO Lead within a Finance, Financial Reporting, or Change environment.
Strong understanding of financial reporting cycles, planning processes, and governance frameworks.
Experience managing complex delivery plans with multiple stakeholders and interdependencies.
Demonstrable experience facilitating governance meetings, project forums, and stakeholder workshops.
Strong risk, issue, dependency, and action management skills.
Ability to manage and coordinate activities against challenging timescales and fixed reporting deadlines.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.
Experience delivering continuous improvement initiatives and embedding process enhancements.
Strong analytical and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and other project management and reporting tools.
Experience within Insurance, Financial Services, or a regulated environment would be advantageous.
Knowledge of IFRS reporting processes and financial planning cycles would be beneficial.
