Duration: 6 Month Contract

You will step into a fast-paced, high-profile environment within the Aviva Group Legal team, directly influencing strategic supplier relationships.

A bit about the job:

Aviva is undergoing an exciting period of strong growth as a result of its continued focus on strategic projects and acquisitions. We have an exciting 6-month contract opportunity for a Qualified Solicitor / Legal Counsel to join our busy Commercial and Outsourcing legal team.

Acting as a key backfill within the team, your primary focus will be navigating commercial contracting within a supplier context and managing a variety of contractor contractual activities. You will provide first-class legal services to the Aviva Group, mitigating legal risks on high-priority projects in accordance with Group policies, and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders on third-party negotiations.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:
  • Qualified Solicitor with strong post-qualification experience in commercial law.

  • Commercial Contracting Expertise: Proven track record of drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial agreements, specifically with a deep understanding of the supplier/procurement context.

  • Contractor Activity: Experience managing and advising on varied contractor contractual activities and frameworks.

  • Industry Background: Financial Services (FS) experience is highly desirable. Experience working within a Big 4 environment (such as PwC or Deloitte) is a major plus.

  • Risk Management: Skilled negotiator capable of balancing robust legal protection with practical commercial risks.

  • Communication: Excellent communicator with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and concisely to diverse stakeholders across the business.

  • Mindset: Proactive, solutions-focused, and confident working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Please ensure that you attach an up-to-date CV to your application.

We’re inclusive and welcome everyone – we want applications from all backgrounds and experiences. Excited but not sure you tick every box? Even if you don’t, we would still encourage you to apply. We also consider all forms of flexible working, including part-time and job shares.

We flex locations, hours and working patterns to suit our customers, business, and you. Most of our people are smart working – spending at least 50% of their time in our offices every week - combining the benefits of flexibility, with time together with colleagues.
