Reinsurance Claims Specialist
Location: You can be based a commutable distance from Norwich, Glasgow, Perth, Birmingham, York, Sheffield, Leeds, Bristol, Eastleigh, Manchester
This is a great job for someone who has experience in reinsurance claims, recoveries or a technical reinsurance function and want to further develop your expertise in a complex and rewarding environment. You enjoy understanding how reinsurance programmes respond to losses, analysing data and working through technical challenges to deliver successful recovery outcomes.
You may already be working with treaty and facultative reinsurance arrangements and be looking for an opportunity to take greater ownership of high-value and technically complex claims. You're comfortable building relationships with brokers, reinsurers and internal stakeholders and enjoy combining technical knowledge with strong operational delivery.
A bit about the job
This role exists to support Aviva's financial performance through the effective management of complex reinsurance claims and recoveries. You'll join our Major & Complex Claims Reinsurance team, working across a broad range of business lines and reinsurance structures. Partnering with underwriting, finance, actuarial, brokers and reinsurers, you'll manage claims from notification through to settlement, helping to maximise recoveries and deliver valuable business insight. This is an excellent opportunity to deepen your technical expertise in treaty and facultative reinsurance while working on high-value and complex cases.
Skills and experience we're looking for
- Practical experience of treaty and facultative reinsurance is essential. We are particularly interested in candidates from reinsurance claims, reinsurance recoveries, ceded reinsurance or reinsurance operations backgrounds.
- Strong analytical skills, including experience working with complex data and using Excel to support claims, recoveries and reporting activities.
- Understanding of reinsurance contract structures and the ability to apply technical knowledge to support successful recovery outcomes.
- Experience working with brokers, reinsurers and internal stakeholders to manage claims and resolve technical issues.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands while managing a varied portfolio of reinsurance claims and recoveries.

Starting salary circa £45.000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
