This is a great job for someone who…

…is a motivated people manager who is passionate about private assets, with experience in one or more of Real Estate Finance, Infrastructure Finance, Structured Finance, Securitisation and Private Corporate Debt — and who believes that credit risk management is fundamental to a successful investment function. Whether you’re already working in credit risk management or looking to move into this type of role, we’d love to hear from you.

A bit about the job:

The Credit Risk Management team sits within the Insurance, Wealth and Retirement (IWR) function in Aviva’s Chief Investment Office and works closely with Aviva Investors, internal CIO stakeholders and a select group of external managers. The team supports the underwriting and management of long‑dated, cashflow‑matching assets that underpin our annuity business — spanning both public and private markets and forming a core part of Aviva’s long‑term investment strategy.

As a Senior Credit Manager, you will manage a team focused on 1st Line Credit Underwriting and portfolio surveillance, working under the guidance of the Head of Credit and Senior Managers within the team. You will lead activity across a defined set of asset classes, including Commercial Ground Rents, Long Income, Real Estate, Infrastructure, Structured Finance, Private Corporate Debt and public credit transactions in the UK and internationally. You’ll make recommendations to Credit Committee on private asset transactions, ensure robust post‑origination surveillance, support the development of new areas of investment, and help shape future enhancements to underwriting and surveillance processes and models.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Strong academic background, ideally at degree level; professional qualifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of private cashflow‑generating assets, risk drivers and an in‑depth understanding of sector‑specific risks and opportunities.
  • A passion for line management, with proven ability to challenge, motivate and support team members and drive performance and development.
  • A collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to driving change and managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and present confidently to committees.

What you’ll get for this role:
