Service Design & Enablement Lead – Enterprise Data Platform

 Salary: National: £80K – 110K and London: £90K- £120K

Locations: London or Bristol

This is a great job for someone who…

…loves turning complexity into clarity. You’ve led service design or enablement for enterprise data platforms, built intuitive “front doors” (portals, catalogues, journeys), and you thrive in federated, enterprise-scale environments.

You’re excited to shape and grow a small enablement function and make self-service real for engineers, analysts, data product owners and governance partners.

A bit about the job

You’ll own Aviva’s Data Platform Enablement Portal—the single, coherent entry point into our data ecosystem.

Your work will bring together access and onboarding, service requests, governance expectations, and learning so colleagues can discover, build and govern data products safely and at pace.

You’ll design consistent journeys across warehousing/Lakehouse, engineering, analytics/BI, metadata/lineage and access/security tooling—making the ecosystem navigable, usable and scalable as we grow.

You’ll partner with platform, product and governance teams, balancing strategic ownership with hands-on delivery in the early stages.

Skills and experience we’re looking for

  • Strong experience in service design/enablement or data platform product operations, with a track record of designing portals, catalogues and endtoend user journeys.

  • Broad understanding of enterprise data platforms (e.g., warehousing/Lakehouse, data engineering/transformation, analytics & BI, metadata/lineage, access & security) and the developer experience behind selfservice.

  • Excellent stakeholder management across platform, product and governance; confident operating in complex, federated environments.

  • Leadership experience—shaping remit, ways of working, priorities; coaching colleagues in documentation, journeys and user experience.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and building new capabilities; able to set standards, guardrails and demand intake that scale. Nice to have: familiarity with data mesh/federated models; value based prioritisation (e.g., RICE/OKRs); background in product management or platform ops.

What you’ll do

  • Own and evolve the Enablement Portal, service catalogue and endtoend journeys as the primary “front door” to the data platform ecosystem.

  • Translate platform capability into clear, usable services and guidance; define platform personas and role clarity.

  • Decide what’s self service vs assisted, what’s mandatory vs advisory, and how demand is triaged and routed across platform teams (including retiring legacy processes).

  • Embed governance, security and compliance into the experience—reducing risk by designing clarity into the services, not relying on controls alone.

  • Shape and lead a small, growing enablement team; use influence and facilitation to drive adoption, speed and satisfaction across the organisation.
