Aviva’s sustainability ambition is to lead the UK financial services sector on climate action, building stronger and more resilient communities, and running the business in a genuinely sustainable way. Group Sustainability exists to set clear strategy, direction, governance and standards, and to enable high‑quality execution across Aviva.
A bit about the job:
The Sustainability Communications & Disclosure Partner owns and stewards coherence of Aviva’s sustainability narrative, supports sustainability reporting and to acts as Group Sustainability’s strategic partner into Brand, Communications, Customer & Marketing and wider Business Units as they use their channels to engage our stakeholders.
The role ensures that key sustainability actions and messages are prioritised and delivered through the right specialist channels and amplified by their unique customer insight and expertise - strengthening brand, reputation and commercial outcomes while reducing inconsistency, inefficiency and greenwashing risk.
The impact of this role is delivered primarily through influence, judgement and orchestration — setting guardrails, shaping priorities, brokering execution and ensuring that complex sustainability content is communicated clearly, credibly and consistently, from internal and public‑facing audiences through to Executive Committee and Board‑level stakeholders.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Strong sustainability and ESG knowledge, with experience translating complex sustainability topics into clear, credible and consistent narratives aligned to business strategy.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively with senior leaders, business units, communications teams, and Executive Committee/Board-level stakeholders.
- Strategic communications and narrative governance experience, including developing communication frameworks, setting messaging guardrails, and ensuring consistency across multiple channels and audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, using sound judgement, prioritisation, and orchestration skills to drive outcomes across matrixed organisations.
- Experience managing reputation and risk considerations, particularly in relation to sustainability communications, brand reputation, regulatory expectations, and reducing greenwashing risk.
